Energy Efficiency

All homes are BER A2 rated and incorporate sustainable and renewable energy technologies resulting in lower energy costs. All houses are constructed of traditional block to provide a high level of air tightness and robustness in order to retain heat. The heating system includes a heat pump system with the comfort of underfloor heating on the ground floor. The heating system will also incorporate full time and temperature zone controls to maximise the energy efficiency within the home. Each home is fitted with a smart 24hr ESB meter.

Triple-Glazed Windows:
All homes will be fitted with high quality energy efficient triple glazed uPVC window units as opposed to the standard double-glazed windows that are fitted standard throughout most housing developments.

High Quality Insulation:
All insulation fitted throughout the house will be of the highest quality and fitted to the highest standards.

All floor and wall insulation will be fitted with a high quality rigid foil back insulation on both sides with a conductivity of .022 WmK. All insulation will be BBA/NSAI certified to ensure that all insulations are tested to the highest standards.

All insulation within attic spaces will be high quality wool insulation laid to the highest standards. To ensure the best performance from this insulation, several layers will be laid to ensure no heat loss is evident from the home below. Access to the attic will be via a Stira or equivalent folding staircase system. There will be a designated storage space platform specifically built above all insulations if desired to ensure that no insulations gets damaged.

Mechanical Ventilation System:

All houses will be fitted with a mechanical ventilation system in the form of Demand Control Ventilation (DCV).

DCV will allow your house to breathe and allow fresh air into the house when required. At every moment, DCV offers an optimisation of heating consumption and indoor air quality on a fully automated basis. Houses with DCV units are often referred to as Healthy Homes and have the following benefits:

Air To Water Heating System:

All houses will be fitted with an Air to Water Heat Pump. An Air to Water Heat Pump is an alternative to oil/gas and solid fuel boilers and heats your home in a manner that is better for the environment.

An Air to Water Heat Pump is an extremely energy-efficient way of heating your home while also reducing your household’s carbon emissions. The Heat Pump is similar to an air conditioning unit and is located externally. The unit is run off electricity, and heats the radiators and underfloor heating along with all hot water requirements.

All houses will be fitted with the following:

  • Highly efficient Air to Water Heat Pump.
  • Underfloor heating on ground floor and radiators on first floor.
  • Time and temperature zone control.
  • Weather compensation technology.
  • 300ltrs Highly insulated stainless-steel cylinder with constant thermostatically controlled hot water on demand.
  • All showers will be pressurised with modern mixer shower heads in ensuites and bathrooms.

Highest Air Tightness Measures:

All houses will be built with the highest quality air tightness measures installed to prevent air infiltration and most importantly improve the energy efficiency and thermal comfort within the home.

In order to have a highly energy efficient home, it’s critical that the heat generated within the home is retained and not lost through the fabric of the building. The key elements of an energy efficient home are as follows:

  • Heating System in the form of an Air To Water Heat Pump.
  • Mechanical ventilation system in the form of Demand Control Ventilation.
  • High quality insulation, installed correctly throughou.t
  • High quality windows and doors.

To ensure all of the above points are fully functional is air tightness. On completion of all homes, an air tightness test will be carried out by an NSAI accredited inspector to ensure that the air tightness across all homes meet the minimum standards to achieve our high energy efficiency standards.
